Question 1

What is junk journaling?

Accepted Answer

Junk journaling is the gentle art of making a journal from found, saved, and beautiful everyday papers. You arrange layers, pockets, notes, and textures in a way that feels like you, without needing a perfect drawing hand or a blank-page plan.

Question 2

What materials do I need to begin?

Accepted Answer

Start with paper, scissors, and a glue stick; an old envelope or cereal box can become part of the journal too. Add special tools only when a project asks for them, and use the beginner guide or templates to keep your first table simple.

Question 3

Is it okay if my pages are not perfect?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. A crooked edge, visible glue mark, or unexpected fold can become part of the page’s story, so let the materials stay human. Begin with one small layer and let the beginner guide show you a few forgiving ways forward.

Question 4

How do pockets and foldouts work?

Accepted Answer

A pocket holds a note, tag, or tiny keepsake, while a foldout gives one page a little more room to open and wander. Templates make the first measurements easier, so you can focus on the satisfying part: choosing what belongs inside.

Question 5

Where can I download the free paper bonus?

Accepted Answer

The free paper bonus lives on its own download page and includes practical pages to print, cut, and keep nearby. Choose one sheet for your next session rather than printing everything at once.

Question 6

When does the next guide arrive?

Accepted Answer

Knickfold sends a note when the next guide or making resource is ready, rather than filling your inbox with noise. Join the waitlist if you would like the next gentle nudge when it arrives.

Question 7

How long should my first making session be?

Accepted Answer

Twenty to forty minutes is plenty for a first session, especially if you stop while the work still feels inviting. Make one small page, take a picture if you like, and leave the table ready for the next quiet pocket of time.

Question 8

What should I do if I get stuck?

Accepted Answer

Pause and retrace the last fold before adding more supplies or pressure. Try the move once on scrap paper, then return to the beginner guide or a simple template for a visual reminder that there is usually more than one right way.
